'The Heart of our Community', the Stratton Defibrillator Group began raising funds to provide and maintain a defibrillator in the parish in 2018. Contributions came from many individuals and organisations.

£250 from Kay Paynter of BLEST, the charitable arm of Babcock, an international engineering company based at Bovington

Kate Seaton receives a cheque for £230 from
Karen of Waitrose at Poundbury after the store
had included the project in its green disc 'Community Matters' scheme.
In September 2018 the Stratton Summer Fayre Committee awarded the project £400. In the photo above, Iain Dalton (left) Treasurer of the Summer Fayre Committee is seen presenting a cheque to the project Chairman, Deane Parr.
Also in September 2018 Stratton Parish Council allocated £600 to the project. The photo above shows Deane Parr receiving a cheque from the Parish Council Chairman, Andy Aylott.
The group created an online funding account which received £1,325 in donations from local residents and their friends. Further contributions, in the form of cash and cheques, were made by individuals in support of the project.
Collecting 'boxes' were - and still are - used within the parish and further afield. There is a permanent box on the bar at the Saxon Arms public house.
The Stratton defibrillator was officially unveiled on Saturday 2nd February 2019 by 'The Heart of our Community' group Chairman, Deane Parr. Just over fifty local people witnessed the event. The defibrillator is located on the north wall of Stratton Village Hall.
Another aspect of The Heart of our Community's purpose is to promote awareness of the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedure to local residents and those who visit Stratton for work or pleasure.
The group arranged a series of Defibrillator Awareness Sessions which were led by South West Ambulance Service Trust personnel. By November 2019 approximately ninety people had attended such sessions. This number included young people and volunteers from Stratton Youth Club.
